2013 GlobeRunner Award Winners Announced at Event in New York City

Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Lufthansa, American Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Transaero Airlines, and Emirates Airline have been named best in class by readers of Frequent Business Traveler.

Jonathan Spira, Frequent Business Traveler’s editorial director, announced the winners of the 2013 GlobeRunner Awards in New York City on Wednesday.  The awards honor the world’s top hotels, airlines, car rental agencies, travel websites and more.  The awards ceremony, held at The Penn Club in midtown Manhattan, was attended by top airline and hotel executives as well as winners of our Master Frequent Business Traveler essay contest.

The Hilton chain swept the board, voted by readers as the Best Hotel Chain in the Americas, Asia/Pacific (APAC) and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).  In addition, readers said that Hilton had the Best Hotel Dining Program as well as the Best Hotel Loyalty Program.

American Airlines received top recognition as the Best Airline in the Americas. Transaero won the award for Best Airline in Europe/Middle East/Africa and Singapore Airlines won for Best Airline in the Asia/Pacific region. Lufthansa was presented with two awards – Best First Class Lounge as well as Best Frequent Flyer Program.  Emirates Airways received recognition for Best Airline Food and Wine.

Honors for Best Airport in the Americas went to John F. Kennedy International Airport.  BMW was named the Best Automobile Manufacturer and Hertz the Best Car Rental Chain.

Results were determined by online voting, which took place between January 9 and March 15.  During the two-month period, readers cast over 110,000 votes for their favorite travel companies.
