United to Purchase 30 Embraer 175 76-Passenger Jets
United Airlines announced it will add 30 Embraer 175 regional jets to the United Express fleet. The airline signed an agreement with Embraer to purchase the aircraft and have them delivered in 2014 and 2015.
United’s Embraer 175 will be configured with 12 seats in first class, 16 in Economy Plus, and 48 in economy. United will use the new aircraft to replace some of its older 50-seat regional jets in the United Express fleet.
The jets will consume 10% less fuel per seat than the 50-seat aircraft they replace. They will also have less CO2 emissions per seat.
The design of the new aircraft will also allow for wider seats and aisles than the 50-seat aircraft. The Embraer 175s will be the first 76-seat regional jet aircraft that United Express will have in its fleet.
