US Airways announced it will begin operating daily non-stop flights from Charlotte to London Heathrow starting March 30.  The airline, which is slated to complete its merger with American Airlines by the end of the year, currently flies between Philadelphia and London and Charlotte and London’s Gatwick airport. The Gatwick flight will be discontinued effective after today.

The airline will operate the new flight with Airbus A330 aircraft which are outfitted with US Airways’ Envoy business-class seating.  Envoy has a 1-2-1 configuration in the business-class cabin.  Each open suite is 20” wide and extends into a lie-flat bed that is roughly 80” in length.

Flights will leave Charlotte at 7:05 p.m. and arrive in London at 8:05 a.m. the next day.  Flights out of London will depart at 10:05 a.m. and arrive in Charlotte the same day at 2:10 p.m.

The new flight will originate in Miami, with one-stop service to London.
