US Airways Announces New Charlotte-São Paulo Route
US Airways announced it will launch new, nonstop service from its hub in Charlotte, North Carolina, to São Paulo, Brazil, beginning May 5, 2013. The new route will be the airline’s second destination in South America, and will operate daily using a Boeing 767-200 aircraft.
Flights from Charlotte will depart Charlotte Douglas International Airport at 5:50 p.m. and arrive at São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport at 4:30 a.m. the next day. From São Paulo, flights will depart at 8:25 a.m. and arrive in Charlotte at 5:25 p.m.
The new route adds to US Airways’ growing international operations from its hub in Charlotte, joining services to London and increased services to Frankfurt that were announced earlier this year. Customers can book tickets for the new route through the airline’s website effective immediately.
São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil and in the southern hemisphere. It is nicknamed “Cidade da Garoa” (city of drizzle), thanks to the amount of precipitation it experiences.
