US Airways Flight Attendants Approve Strike
US Airways flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), have authorized a strike with a 94% vote. The flight attendants are calling on management to finalize the merger between US Airways and America West with a single contract for all US Airways flight attendants.
In the event that US Airways management fails to reach an agreement and the two sides are released from mediation, a 30-day cooling-off period would be implemented by the National Mediation Board. If, during the 30 days, an agreement is still not reached, US Airways flight attendants would begin to strike.
The flight attendants would use AFA’s CHAOS (Create Havoc Around Our System) tactics during the strike. The strategy includes intermittent strikes, called at random and without warning to management or the public.
