Boeing Announces the Boeing Business Jet MAX
Boeing announced its intent to offer the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) Max 8 and BBJ Max 9 to its business jet customers. The announcement was made on October 29, 2012, at the National Business Aviation Association Conference in Orlando, Florida.
The BBJ MAX 8 will be based on the 737 MAX 8, and will be the first member of the BBJ MAX family to make use of the efficiency of CFM International’s new LEAP-1B engines, as well as the Boeing-developed Advanced Technology winglet. These two features will result in a 13% fuel-use improvement and provide a range of 6,325 nautical miles. The aircraft’s cabin will also be 19 feet longer than today’s BBJ, and will have three times as much cargo space.
The BBJ Max 9 will be based on the 737 Max 9, and will offer similar performance improvements as the BBJ Max 8, though the Max 9 will have an even larger cabin than the Max 8.
