Starwood Opens First Tower of Sheraton Macao Hotel in China
Starwood Hotels and Resorts has opened the first of two towers that make up the Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central. The property is the largest hotel in the world to open in 2012. Located in Macau, China, and incorporating nearly 4,000 rooms, the hotel overlooks the Cotai Strip development and houses the world’s largest Sheraton Club Lounge.
The first tower, the Sheraton Sky Tower, features 1,829 rooms, each of which include a Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed, 42″ LCD TV, a refreshment center, high-speed wireless Internet, and direct-dial telephones with voicemail. The pillar-less Kashgar Grand Ballroom and six junior ballrooms offer a combined meeting space of over 164,000 square feet, and the Sheraton Club offers 570 guestrooms, while the 13,000 square foot Club Lounge can seat up to 274 people.
Also included in the hotel’s first tower is the Palms Lounge, the fourth floor Sala Pool, and gymnasium with Sheraton Care Performance Fitness Program. The Shine Spa, also located in the first tower, features 15 treatment rooms.
The hotel caters to children with the Sheraton Macao Hotel Kid’s Program, which includes supervised activities such as scavenger hunts, pool games, and arts and crafts. The second tower, the Sheraton Earth Tower, is slated to open early next year, and will offer an additional 2,067 rooms (for a grand total of 3,896 rooms, 33 of which will be family suites).
