Alaska Airlines announced that new seats with more legroom will be coming to the carrier’s fleet of Boeing 737-900ER aircraft starting this fall. The installation will take approximately two years.

The seats are being supplied by Recaro Aircraft Seating and Alaska Airlines will be the company’s North American launch customer.

The new seats will have a slimmer seatback and bottom, and their literature pockets with be located above the tray table, freeing up legroom below. Alaska Airlines’ variation of the seats will have custom cushions, a six-way adjustable headrest, and three inches of recline.

Alaska Airlines’ first class seats on these aircraft (pictured) will be a variation of the new Recaro coach seats, and feature five inches of recline and an articulating seat bottom.
