The hotel industry is petitioning the Federal Communications Commission, asking it to allow them to block the use of personal hotspots on property, a move opposed by several major tech companies and a lobbying group for the U.S. telecommunications industry.
The petition was filed by Marriott International and the American Hospitality & Lodging Association.

Hyatt to Launch Complimentary Wireless Internet at Every Hotel
Hyatt Hotels announced it will begin offering guests free Wi-Fi access at all of its properties worldwide in February 2015.
The complimentary Internet will be available in every guestroom and lounge at Hyatt hotels.
Guests will be able to access the Internet on an unlimited number of laptops and mobile devices.
The company will also offer Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond and Platinum tier members complimentary upgrades to premium Wi-Fi service at select properties.
