Amtrak announced plans to offer non-stop service between New York City and Washington, D.C. in September.
The trains will travel from Pennsylvania Station in New York to Union Station in D.C. in two hours and 35 minutes, making the trip some 25 minutes faster than it currently is. Senate Commerce Committee Advances FAA Administrator Nominee

The Senate Commerce Committee approved the nomination of Steve Dickson for the position of administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday.
Dickson retired as an executive at Delta Air Lines last fall after 27 years with the company. He started his career there as a pilot and rose to senior vice president of flight operations.
His nomination was approved in a party-line vote of 14-12. His appointment requires full Senate approval.
