Aftermath of Sandy: JFK to Reopen, LaGuardia Closed Indefinitely, Buses Return, Millions Without Power

One day after Hurricane Sandy struck the East Coast of the United States, millions of people in the Northeast remained without power as some services slowly returned to normal.
More than 7,000 flights were cancelled on Tuesday according to  FlightAware.com, a flight-tracking service, bringing the total number of cancellations caused by Hurricane Sandy to over 18,000.  New York’s LaGuardia and Newark Liberty airports were the most affected with 1,200 cancellations each.

Austrian Airlines is installing new modern cabins in its long-haul aircraft. The makeover, which will cost the airline over 90 million euros, will see all ten of Austrian’s Boeing 777 and 767 long-haul aircraft receive ergonomic Economy Class seats, an improved in-flight entertainment system, and fully-flat seats in Business Class. United Announces Domestic Routes for New Dreamliners

United Airlines announced the first routes for its new Boeing 787 Dreamliners.  The initial routes are domestic and the new planes will start flying in November of 2012 from United’s Houston hub.  Destinations will include Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington (Dulles).
