Heavy rain and flash flooding will affect parts of the Midwest and the East Coast early in the week while dangerous summer heat will return to much of the country as well.

United Airlines to Offer New Service to Tokyo Haneda Airport from Chicago, L.A., New York, and Washington, D.C.

United Airlines announced plans for four new non-stop routes to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport late Friday.
Starting March 28, 2020, the airline will begin to offer service from Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. to Haneda.  Through its partners, United will offer connecting service from Haneda to 65 destinations in Asia.

U.S. Customs Recovers from Major Systems Outage

Travelers arriving in the United States on Friday were greeted by snarled lines following a nationwide failure of computers at the nation’s borders for several hours.
The United States Customs and Border Protection agency said shortly after 6:30 p.m. that its systems were closely being restored.
“The affected systems are coming back online and travelers are being processed,” the agency said in a tweet.  “CBP will continue to monitor the incident.”

A series of storms moving from the Plains to the Northeast brought long delays at airports in that region on Wednesday along with lightning, hail, strong winds, flooding, and even a tornado.
