Delta to Cut Four Memphis Routes, Lay Off Dozens of Employees

Delta Air Lines announced that it will cease operating four of its non-stop routes from Memphis International Airport next year, although it will begin serving several new cities from its former hub.
Beginning January 5, 2015, the airline will no longer offer non-stop service from Memphis to Pittsburgh International Airport, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.  In addition, the carrier will discontinue its Memphis-Washington Reagan route …

Alaska Airlines announced it will begin new daily, non-stop flights between Seattle and Washington Dulles International Airport on March 11 next year.  Once the new flights begin, Alaska will offer service from Seattle to all three Washington D.C.-area airports, including Washington Reagan and Baltimore/Washington International.

Aer Lingus to Launch Washington-Dublin Flights

Aer Lingus announced it will begin new service between Washington Dulles International Airport and Dublin, Ireland, on May 1 of next year.  The service will operate four times a week.
Flights will depart from Washington at 5:20 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and will arrive in Dublin at 5:30 a.m. the next day.  Flights from Dublin will depart at 12:45 p.m., and will arrive in Washington at 3:35 p.m. …

Southwest Begins Flights Between Washington and Akron-Canton

Southwest Airlines announced the launch of new daily, non-stop service between Washington Reagan National Airport and Akron-Canton Airport in Ohio.  The service operates using Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
Southwest’s 737-700s are outfitted with 143 economy seats in a one-class cabin.  The seats are pitched at 31”, and have a width of 17”.

Marriott Unveils Renovations to Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Marriott announced the completion of a multi-million dollar renovation of the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown’s meeting and event space. All 64,000 square feet (5,945 square meters) of the property’s meeting areas received upgrades during the renovation, including the 19,000-square-foot (1,765-square-meter) grand ballroom, the 10,000-square-foot (929-square-meter) Renaissance ballroom, 30 breakout rooms, and all of the hotel’s pre-function space.

Virgin America, China Airlines Begin New Codeshare Flights

Virgin America announced the launch of new codeshare flights in partnership with China Airlines.
Under the new agreement, China Airlines will now be able to place its code on Virgin America flights to Boston, Chicago, Dallas Love Field, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Newark, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, Seattle, and Washington Dulles, from both Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Hailo Pulls Out of U.S. Market

Hailo Network, a ridesharing services company that linked passengers with drivers for hire, said it would cease operations in the United States.
The London-based company, which competed with Uber and Lyft for a share of the app-driven car service market, will continue to operate in other markets including London, Manchester, Tokyo, Osaka, and Barcelona.  According to its website, it plans to begin operations in Singapore later this year.
