In the course of its second-quarter earnings call, US Airways said that it will leave Star Alliance and have joined the oneworld alliance by 2014.

The CEO of US Airways announced that the airline’s shareholders have approved the proposed merger with American Airlines’ parent AMR Corp.   The approval was one of the final steps remaining in finalizing the deal, which will create the world’s biggest airline upon closing.

US Airways Expands Gogo In-Flight Internet to 90% of Domestic Flights

US Airways announced that it installed Gogo Wi-Fi in-flight Internet on its fleet of 270 Airbus A319, A320, A321, and Embraer 190 aircraft, as well as on 58 Embraer 170 and 175 aircraft operated by Republic Airlines as US Airways Express flights.  With the installations complete, US Airways now offers in-flight wireless access on 90% of its domestic flights.

Judge Sends American-US Airways Merger Plan to Creditors For Vote, AA Passenger Traffic Up in May

U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Sean H. Lane entered the order approving American Airlines’ parent AMR Corp.’s “disclosure statement,” essentially the airline’s reorganization plan, and authorized AMR stockholders and creditors to vote on the plan.  In addition, American reported that its passenger traffic for May rose slightly, up 8% as capacity remained the same.  The airline said its consolidated record load factor was at 84%, a record for the month.
