W Paris – Opéra Hotel to Open in February

The W Paris – Opéra hotel will open in an historic 1870s building, across from Opéra Garnier on February 14, 2012.
Designed by Rockwell Group, the 91-room hotel retains some architectural elements, such as the structure’s original vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows and marble staircases and fireplaces. But it is also very twenty-first century: a digital wall that displays changing patterns runs throughout the property.

The Equinox Resort, Manchester, Vermont – Hotel Review

Since 1769, the Equinox Resort has been a meeting place, first for America’s founding fathers, and now, as part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection of hotels and resorts, for vacationers and business travelers who have sought it out, in part for its idyllic New England location but also for the interesting and unusual activities the resort offers its guests.

St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco Review

Art + Hotel.  That would be my recommended advertising slogan for the St. Regis in San Francisco. The connection between art and hotel has been noted in these pages before (most recently in our reviews of the 21C Museum Hotel and the Four Seasons in Seattle) and the St. Regis is an excellent example of an establishment that’s not only proximate to multiple art museums but one that integrates art …

W New York

W New York

New York City has hotel rooms for every taste and budget and, when it comes to boutique hotels, the city is the epicenter.  The Starwood Hotels W chain is acknowledged as the brand that once epitomized the boutique hotel and the grand-daddy of that chain is the W New York. My decision to stay there was based purely on nostalgia: it had been my home away from home …

Hotel Review: Tacoma Sheraton

Hotel Review: Tacoma Sheraton

Built in 1986, the Tacoma Sheraton appeared not to have been vacuumed since opening day.  I had an uneasy feeling about this hotel from the moment I walked into the lobby and I was not disappointed. As I checked in (I was a speaker at a conference, and my room was to be part of the master bill), I verified the billing arrangements only to be told I was to …
