Marriott Launches Travel Well Fitness Program, Adds Hotel Fitness Concierges in Bay Area

Marriott announced the launch of its new Travel Well hotel fitness program at properties in San Francisco.  The new offering consists of new fitness options, an online support community, and on-property fitness concierges.
Participating properties include the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, San Francisco Marriott Airport Waterfront, San Jose Marriott, and Santa Clara Marriott.

Virgin Atlantic to Double its Service Between London Heathrow and San Francisco

Virgin Atlantic announced that it will increase its daily London Heathrow-San Francisco service to two flights a day beginning October 24.  The service will be part of the carrier’s joint venture with Delta Air Lines.
Virgin will operate the second flight using its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.  The planes are outfitted with 31 seats in Upper Class, 35 seats in premium economy, and 198 seats in economy.

The St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco opened on March 21, 1904.  Notable individuals including Theodore Roosevelt, Helen Keller, Woodrow Wilson, Charlie Chaplin, Ronald Reagan, and Queen Elizabeth II have all stayed at the California property, which is in operation today as the Westin St. Francis.

Delta Air Lines announced it will begin operating Boeing 717s on its shuttle between San Francisco International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport in June. The carrier will use the planes on eight of its 15 daily flights between the two cities.

The historic call was placed by three parties, Alexander Graham Bell in New York, Theodore Vail, the president of AT&T in Jekyll Island, Georgia, and U.S. President Woodrow Wilson in the White House, to Bell’s assistant Thomas Watson in San Francisco.
