Qatar Drops Bid to Acquire Stake in American Airlines

Qatar Airways said Wednesday that it no longer plans to take a stake in American Airlines.
“Further review of the proposed financial investment, taking into account the latest public disclosure of American Airlines, has demonstrated that the investment no longer meets our objectives,” the carrier said.

American Airlines said Wednesday it plans to discontinue its codeshare partnerships with two Gulf carriers, Etihad and Qatar Airways.

Qatar Airways to Offer In-Flight ‘Laptop Loan’ Service to Counter Electronics Ban

Qatar Airways announced Thursday it would offer business-class passengers the use of a laptop while in flight to compensate for the ban on in-cabin electronic devices larger than a smartphone on flights to the United States.
The Doha-based airline said it was offering the Laptop Loan service to help provide “uninterrupted productivity” to its customers during flights.
