Eight theaters and comedy clubs in New York City have jointly filed a lawsuit that challenges the state’s and city’s executive orders that is keeping theaters closed amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The lawsuit was filed on Friday in Federal district Court in Manhattan.
In the filing, the theaters argue that the various government orders “shock the conscience and interfere with plaintiffs’ deeply-rooted liberty and property rights, including the right to work, right …

Review: ‘What the Constitution Means to Me’ on Amazon Prime Video

At the age of 15, Heidi Schreck was a relentless debater and high school student in Wenatchee, Washington, participating and triumphing in the American Legion Oratorical Contests.  A quarter of a century later, her memories of these experiences formed the basis of a play that, in December 2018, I called “the best civics class ever.”

“If you’re talking about getting back to a degree of normality which resembles where we were prior to Covid, it’s going to be well into 2021, maybe even towards the end of 2021,” Fauci said Friday in an …

Movie Review: ‘The Wicked Dreams of Paula Schultz’ on Amazon Prime Video

The 1960s hit television comedy “Hogan’s Heroes” used the tagline, “If you liked World War II, you’ll love ‘Hogan’s Heroes.’”  To paraphrase that thought, originally a quip by comedian Stan Freberg, I would say, “If you liked ‘Hogan’s Heroes,’ you’ll love ‘The Wicked Dreams of Paula Schultz.’”
“Paula Schultz” is the story of a fictitious East German Olympic star (played brilliantly by Elke Sommer) and a bumbling group of Americans …
