Oneworld Adds New Benefits for Emerald and Sapphire Status Flyers

The oneworld airline alliance announced the addition of new benefits for flyers with Emerald and Sapphire status.
Starting Monday, both Emerald and Sapphire members will receive priority baggage delivery on all oneworld-member flights regardless of the cabin flown.  The benefit is similar to that provided to first- and business-class passengers on the airline.

The new group is starting off with five airlines in addition to Etihad, namely Air Berlin, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, Darwin Airline, and Jet Airways, all companies in which Etihad holds a stake.

Qantas, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific Airways announced the opening of a new lounge for all oneworld member airlines at Los Angeles International Airport.  The facility is located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal and managed principally by Qantas.

Dallas-Sydney, World’s Longest Flight, to Upgrade to World’s Largest Aircraft

Qantas Airways announced that it will operate its non-stop Dallas/Fort Worth-Sydney flight with an Airbus A380 aircraft this fall.
The 8,580-mile (13,800-kilometer) voyage became the longest scheduled commercial flight in the world by distance, after Singapore Airlines discontinued non-stop service between Singapore and Newark and Singapore and Los Angeles late last year.  The two flights were 9,520 miles (15,300 kilometers) and 8,760 (14,100 kilometers) respectively.
