Southwest Airlines announced it will offer service to five new domestic destinations from Dallas Love Field beginning October 13, as well as 10 more on November 2.  The airline’s new destinations follow the repeal of flight restrictions that were imposed in 1979 that limited the number of destinations that the airport could serve.

Snow Blankets Northeast, Cancelling Flights and Stranding Super Bowl Fans

The winter’s 13th storm will leave snow behind in as many as 30 states, ending late Monday as it moves out to sea.  The next storm will not be far behind, and is expected to impact central and eastern states Tuesday and Wednesday.

The latest plans to use the TWA Flight Center at John F. Kennedy International Airport are off the table.
The landmark terminal, also known as the Trans World Flight Center, was designed by Eero Saarinen and opened in 1962. Both the terminal’s interior and exterior have been designated as historic landmarks by New York City and the National Park Service listed it on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

South African Airways to Resume Nonstop Flights from Johannesburg to New York

South African Airways announced changes to its schedule for nonstop flights from Johannesburg to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.  Starting March 9, the airline will resume nonstop service on this route.
The nonstop service had been halted during the winter season and a refueling stop in Dakar, Senegal was added.  South African attributed the change to lower demand.

Japan Airlines announced a number of flight schedule changes that will take effect on March 30.  In addition, the carrier also announced that it will be changing the aircraft on various routes from both Tokyo Haneda and Narita.
