Lufthansa Orders 40 Boeing 787s, Airbus A350s, While Downsizing A380 Fleet
Lufthansa said Wednesday it has ordered 20 Boeing 787-9 and 20 Airbus A350-900 wide-body aircraft with an eye towards replacing the older four-engine aircraft in its current fleet.
As part of the deal with Airbus, Lufthansa will sell six of its 14 A380 super jumbos back to Airbus in the period 2022-23.

New U.S. Airline ‘Moxy’ and JetBlue Place Orders for 120 Airbus A220 Aircraft
JetBlue founder David Neeleman’s latest airline venture, code-named “Moxy,” has signed a firm order for 60 A220-300 aircraft, Airbus reported. The European aircraft manufacturer also said that at the same time that JetBlue also signed a firm orders for the same quantity of A220-300 planes.
Both orders for the new aircraft, which will be built at a new U.S. assembly facility in Mobile, Alabama, were completed in December.

American Airlines Orders 15 Additional Embraer E175 Jets
Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced that American Airlines placed a firm order for 15 additional E175 regional jets. The deal is valued at $705 million based on current list prices.
The 76-seat aircrafts are expected to be delivered in 2020.
The new order will bring the airline’s total number of E175s to 104. The airline most recently placed an order in May 2018 for 15.

United Airlines said Monday it had ordered 29 new aircraft as part of what it termed a “fleet update.”
