It’s official. With the closing of its merger with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Marriott International became the world’s largest hotelier Friday.
The combined company brings together Marriott, Courtyard, and Ritz-Carlton brands with Starwood’s Sheraton, Westin, W, and St. Regis properties and will have over 1.1 million rooms in more than 5,500 hotels in 100 countries.

Marriott International announced Tuesday that its planned merger with Starwood Hotels and Resorts had cleared its final hurdle – approval by Chinese regulators – and would close by Friday.

New AC Hotel Opens in Guadalajara, Mexico

Marriot Hotels and Resorts announced the opening of its first AC Hotel in Mexico, the AC Hotel Guadalajara, Jalisco.
The new hotel has 188 guestrooms, each with wood floors and a gray and brown decor. Dining options include the AC Lounge, which offers tapas and signature cocktails, as well as the AC Kitchen, which features what the hotelier calls a European-style continental breakfast.
