Lufthansa First European Carrier to Offer TSA PreCheck

Lufthansa German Airlines said it has officially joined the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program. The airline is the first European carrier to be authorized by the TSA to offer its passengers the expedited service.
All Lufthansa passengers who are enrolled in Global Entry, Nexus, Sentri, or the TSA PreCheck program are eligible to use PreCheck security lanes, as are active duty U.S. military members.

Lufthansa announced Wednesday that it reached an agreement with the Unabhängige Flugbegleiter Organisation or UFO, the union that represents the majority of the airline’s flight attendants, which prohibits cabin crew from going on strike. The agreement comes following mediation led by former Brandenburg Prime Minister Matthias Platzek.
Among other conditions, the agreement will move employees from a defined-benefit pension system to a defined-contribution pension system.

Lufthansa announced that it plans to introduce in-flight Wi-Fi on short- and medium-haul flights on Airbus A320 aircraft this October.

Lufthansa announced financial results for 2015.
The German flag carrier’s net profit rose to €1.7 billion ($1.93 billion) from €55 million in 2014, which had ben heavily impacted by several one-time items. The airline’s loss in the fourth quarter fell to €50 million from a €427 million loss a year earlier.
