Virgin America to Begin Seasonal New York-Fort Lauderdale, Boston-Las Vegas Routes

Virgin America announced it will launch two new seasonal routes this winter. The routes link New York with Fort Lauderdale, and Boston with Las Vegas.
Beginning December 18, and lasting through April 28, 2015, the carrier will offer daily, non-stop service from New York’s John F. JetBlue, El Al to Begin Codeshare

JetBlue Airways announced that it plans to begin a codeshare agreement with Israeli flag carrier El Al.  The two airlines filed for approval with the U.S. Department of Transportation, and are currently awaiting approval.

JFK Skycaps to Receive Million Dollar Settlement

Skycaps who worked at John F. Kennedy International Airport for less than the legal minimum wage will receive almost $1 million in restitution and damages, thanks to the intervention of New York State’s attorney general.
In the period from 2008 through 2014, Alstate Maintenance, a contractor, reportedly paid 40 skycaps $3.90 per hour.  The minimum wage for non-food service workers who receive tips is $5.65 and for others it is $8.

Aeromexico announced it will launch new, non-stop service between Monterrey and New York City on December 8.  The service will operate daily, using Embraer 190 aircraft.
Flights will depart from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport at 3:00 p.m. and arrive at Monterrey International Airport at 7:17 p.m.  From New York, flights will depart at 8:50 a.m. and arrive in Monterrey at 1:51 p.m.

Norwegian Air Shuttle announced that next spring it will begin new service to Orlando from both Copenhagen and London Gatwick.  In addition, the airline will increase its service to various American destinations from Europe starting next year.
On March 30, 2015, Norwegian will launch once a week non-stop Monday flights between Copenhagen and Orlando.

Virgin Atlantic to Increase Transatlantic Offerings, Discontinue Service to Narita, Mumbai, and Cape Town

Virgin Atlantic announced multiple changes to its schedule including the discontinuation of service to several major cities.
Virgin will add an extra daily flight between London Heathrow and both New York’s John F.
