Japan Airlines, a member of the oneworld alliance, announced that it will begin flying Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with its new Sky Suite 777 cabins on the Tokyo (Narita)-New York (John F. Kennedy) route starting in early May.  JAL has been operating Sky Suite 777 aircraft on its London (Heathrow)-Tokyo route since early January.

As a result of the worldwide grounding of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, All Nippon Airways (ANA) announced it would suspend service on certain international routes until at least May 31, 2013. The airline also has had to make numerous changes to its domestic flights as well.

Boingo, a wireless Internet company, announced that it will expand its services to five airports in Japan in spring of this year.  In addition, the company also announced it will offer its services at three airports in Germany, beginning in spring as well.

Delta Air Lines announced it will begin to offer nonstop service between Seattle, Washington and Tokyo International Airport (Haneda).  The new flights will begin on June 1, 2013.  Delta already operates nonstop flights to Amsterdam, Beijing, Osaka, Paris, and Tokyo (Narita) from Seattle.

JAL, S7 Announce Codeshare Agreement

Japan Airlines and S7 announced a codeshare agreement.  Under the agreement, JAL will be able to place its codes on flights operated by the Russian airline beginning January 30, 2013, while, beginning February 15, S7 will place its code on various JAL-operated flights.

Hyatt has announced that it will open the Andaz Tokyo in summer 2014.  The hotel will be the first Andaz property in Japan, the fourth Hyatt-branded hotel in Tokyo, and the ninth Hyatt-branded hotel in Japan.
