Finnair to Join British Airways, JAL Joint Business Venture

British Airways and Japan Airlines announced plans to bring Finnair into their joint business venture. Under the venture, the three airlines would share revenue and coordinate flight schedules and fares.
British Airways and Japan Airlines began their joint business venture in October of last year. The two airlines cooperate on all nonstop flights between Europe and Japan operated by either carrier.

Hawaiian Airlines announced it has started to offer new service between Honolulu and Sendai, Japan on June 25.  The service operates three times a week.
Honolulu, the state capital, is on Oahu, Hawaii’s third largest island.

JAL to Introduce Sky Suite II Seats on Boeing 767-300ER Aircraft

Japan Airlines announced it will install new seats in its two-class international Boeing 767-300ER fleet.  The newly refurbished aircraft will be introduced on the airline’s Tokyo Narita-Vancouver route in December of this year, as well as on select long-haul Southeast Asia and Honolulu routes by next year.

Ritz-Carlton to Open New Hotel in Kyoto, Japan

Ritz-Carlton announced that the Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto will open in Japan on February 7 next year.  The hotel will be located on the Kamogawa River, close to Kyoto’s downtown areas including Gion and Kawaramachi-dori, the city’s shopping and entertainment district.
The property will have 136 guestrooms.  The rooms will be an average of 50 square meters (538 square feet) and sport views of the river as well as the Higashiyama Mountains.

Japan Airlines will introduce a new system which passengers can use to order in-flight meals and products on April 15, 2013.  Passengers on board the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft outfitted with the new Sky Suite 777 cabins will be able to access the service via the in-flight entertainment system.
