Coronavirus News Update – April 25: The World Has Administered 1 Billion Shots

Over one million coronavirus shots have been administered in some 172 countries since the start of vaccinations in December, according to several data trackers.  The first jab was given to Margaret Keenan, a 90-year-old grandmother in the United Kingdom, on December 8. The preponderance of doses have been given in wealthy countries and nearly a quarter of them were administered in the United States.

Flexjet, a provider of fractional ownership aircraft, announced the opening of its private terminal at Van Nuys Airport in the San Fernando Valley section of the City of Los Angeles.
The terminal, which located in the Clay Lacy Executive Complex, features a  3,000-square-foot (279-square-meter) lounge for Flexjet clients.
“Expanding our network of private terminals offers our clients another retreat as they travel with us,” said Megan Wolf, the company’s COO.

Southwest Airlines announced it will add a third airport to its South Carolina destinations,  while adding. six new routes from Austin, Texas.

Hawaiian Airlines announced the start of new non-stop service linking Honolulu with Ontario, California, beginning March 17.
The new service to the Inland Empire from the Hawaiian capital will go from five times per week to daily starting May 24.

Hyatt Hotels announced the opening of its 1,000th property, the Alila Napa Valley hotel.
The milestone was reached 68 years after the opening of the first Hyatt property, the Hyatt House, a motel near Los Angeles International Airport, in 1953 by Hyatt Robert von Dehn and Jack Dyer Crouch.  The property is considered to be the first airport hotel in the world.
