Alaska Airlines to Begin Daily Seattle to Philly, Ft. Lauderdale Flights

Alaska Airlines is launching two new routes this summer. Starting June 11, the carrier is scheduled to begin new nonstop daily service between Seattle and Philadelphia. In addition, daily nonstop service between Seattle and Fort Lauderdale will start July 16.
The new flights will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft. With the launch of the new Ft. Lauderdale service, Alaska Airlines will discontinue its flights between Seattle and Miami.

Alaska Airlines, the country’s seventh largest carrier based on traffic, announced it will no longer distribute prayer cards to passengers effective 1 February.  The tradition started over 30 years ago and in recent years since the discontinuation of meal service in coach, the cards were only provided to first-class passengers.

Emirates Partners With Alaska, Launches 2 New Non-Stops From U.S.

Alaska Airlines and Emirates Airline have announced a new frequent flyer program partnership.
With the new partnership, Emirates Skywards members will accrue miles when flying Alaska Airlines, and Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members will be able to earn miles when flying Emirates. Both carriers will offer double miles March 1 through May 31, 2012.

AA and Alaska Airlines Add Reciprocal Elite Frequent Flyer Benefits

American Airlines and Alaska Airlines announced an agreement to provide elite status members of American’s AAdvantage Program and Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan with reciprocal benefits.
American American’s AAdvantage Program members flying on Alaska Airlines will be eligible for priority check-in and boarding, as well as no charge for two checked bags.  AAdvantage Platinum and Executive Platinum members will have access to exclusive security screening lanes and preferred seating.

Alaska Airlines Starts Biofuel Flights This Week

Alaska Airlines announced it will fly a total of 75 passenger flights using biofuel, starting this Wednesday.  The first two flights depart Seattle on November 9 for Washington, D.C. and Portland, Oregon.
