Aeroplan to Partner with Flair Airlines

Canadian low-cost carrier Flair Airlines and Aimia, the owner of Air Canada’s frequent flyer program Aeroplan, announced plans to form a partnership.
The tie-up, which would go into effect in 2020, will allow passengers on Flair to earn Aeroplan Miles when taking flights and also allow passengers to redeem miles for award flights.

WestJet to Offer Non-Stop Service Between Calgary and Terrace, B.C.

WestJet announced the introduction of new twice-weekly service between Calgary and Terrace, British Columbia.
Flights from Calgary International Airport to Northwest Regional Airport Terrace-Kitimatwill commence on September 4, 2018, and operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Flights will depart Calgary at 9:30 p.m. and arrive at 10:50 p.m.  Return flights will operate on Wednesdays and Fridays, leaving Terrace at 6:30 a.m. and arriving at 9:35 a.m.

United Airlines Names Jake Cefolia to Worldwide Sales Leadership Position

United Airlines announced the appointment of Jake Cefolia to the position of senior vice president of worldwide sales.
Cefolia most recently served as vice president of sales for the Americas. He has been with the airline since 2007 and, prior to joining United, he was at Northwest Airlines and British Airways.

Aeromexico Reports Record Number of Passengers for July

Aeromexico announced operational results for July 2018. The Mexico City-based carrier saw a significant increase in traffic and capacity as well as a small increase in its load factor.

Korean Air to Link Boston and Seoul

Korean Airlines announced plans to launch new non-stop service linking Seoul and Boston come spring.
The news was announced on Sunday in conjunction with the Massachusetts Port Authority.
The flight will operate five times per week and the carrier will use Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 aircraft equipped with 271 seats on the route.  Korean’s 787-9s have six seats in the first-class cabin and 18 in business.

Vintage Sightseeing Plane Crashes in Switzerland, No Survivors Found

A vintage Ju-Air propeller plane operating a sightseeing flight crashed into a mountainside in southeast Switzerland near the town of Flims.
Swiss police said that all 20 people on board the plane, a Junkers Ju 52, were killed.
“The Ju-Air team is deeply saddened and thinks of the passengers, the crew and families and friends of the victims,” the airline said in a statement on its website.
