Hyatt To Open First Hotel In Cambodia

Hyatt will open its first branded hotel in Cambodia in the first quarter of 2013.  A Hyatt affiliate has signed a management agreement with Hotel De La Paix Siem Reap to rebrand it as the Park Hyatt Siem Reap.
Park Hyatt Siem Reap will feature 107 rooms and suites, meeting rooms, two restaurants, a bar, and a bakery. The location will also offer a fitness center, spa, and two swimming pools.

Alaska Airlines Opens New Terminal At LAX

Alaska Airlines has opened its new “airport of the future” at LAX’s Terminal 6. The newly renovated terminal features check-in kiosks and bag-check stations, which replace traditional ticket counters.
Alaska Airlines expects to reduce check-in wait times for customers with checked bags to less than four minutes (from 20 minutes), and about a minute for customers with carry-on luggage only.

Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer Partner For Biofuel Development

Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer announced they will work together on the development of affordable aviation biofuel.
Their goals are twofold: 1.) a reduction in CO2 emissions and 2.) attaining 4% biofuel usage by the aviation industry by 2020 (a target set by an EU commission). Other goals include aiming for carbon-neutral emissions sometime after 2020, and halving all industry emissions by 2050 based on 2005 levels.

Starwood has announced it will open its 200th Westin hotel within the next twelve months.
The company plans to open 11 new Westin hotels this year, in locations that include China, Indonesia, Panama City, New York and Snowmass, Colorado.
