Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile to Undergo Renovations

Davidson Hotels & Resorts has announced it will take over management of the Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile and complete a $25 million renovation of the hotel.
The wide-scale renovations will upgrade the Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile to the 4-star category and include new check-in and lounge areas, as well as a new restaurant. Other refurbishments will include new furniture, flooring, and lighting.

United Launches New Routes from Washington Dulles

United Airlines has launched new daily, nonstop routes between its hub at Washington Dulles and Dublin, Ireland and Honolulu, Hawaii Airports.
The new service to Dublin Airport will be operated aboard Boeing 757-200 aircraft, which offer 169 seats (including 16 United BusinessFirst flat-bed seats and 45 Economy Plus).
Last month, United added service between Dulles and Doha, Qatar, and Manchester, England.

New Austrian Star Alliance Terminal Opens at Vienna Airport

The new Austrian Star Alliance Terminal opened at Vienna International Airport today.  The terminal will be the home to Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, and their fellow Star Alliance partners.
The new terminal drops transfer times to as little as 25 minutes, and is equipped with ten luggage carousels to expedite baggage claim. The check-in area at the terminal will feature 69 check-in counters and 38 self check-in terminals. …

Surf Air, a new membership-based airline, announced it has obtained funding that will allow it to open for business late this summer.
Surf Air membership will begin at $790 a month, and offer unlimited flights, concierge service, and first-class amenities. Members will be able to book/cancel flights in only 30 seconds, and will not have to deal with lines or additional fees at the airport.

Delta Makes 4% Investment in Aeromexico

Delta, the second largest airline in the U.S., has invested $65 million into Grupo Aeromexico. This solidifies the largest airline alliance in the Mexico-U.S. market.
The investment is the first time a global airline has bought into a Mexican national carrier. As part of the investment, Delta now has a seat on the Grupo Aeromexico board of directors.

Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways have announced their winter flight schedules through January 4, 2013, as well as new routes.
