Aeromexico Traffic, Capacity Up in August

Aeromexico announced operational results for August 2014.  The airline’s total passenger traffic increased by 12.3% year-over-year, while its total capacity rose by 13.8% from August 2013.

Virgin America announced operational results for August 2014.
The airline’s total traffic for the month was 940 million revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 2.9% from 913 million RPMs in August 2013.
Meanwhile, total capacity in August decreased by 1.2%, down to 1.098 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 1.110 billion ASMs in the same month last year.

Dubai to Spend $32 Billion to Build World’s Biggest Airport

The United Arab Emirates will become the home to the world’s largest airport, following the green-lighting of a plan to expand Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central.
The project, which has been approved by U.A.E. Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, will cost 120 billion dirhams ($32 billion) to complete. The airport first opened in 2010.

SkyWest announced operational results for August 2014.
The airline’s total traffic in August was 2.878 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year decrease of 0.5% from 2.893 billion RPMs in August 2013.
