WestJet Reports Record Q2 Profit

WestJet Airlines announced financial results for the second quarter of 2014.
The carrier reported a record profit of 51.8 million Canadian dollars ($47.9 million) in the second quarter, a year-over-year increase of 15.9% from C$44.7 million in Q2 of 2013.
Revenue in the second quarter also increased, up 10.3% to C$930.3 million from C$843.7 million in the same period last year.

Aeromexico Profits Plunge in Second Quarter

Aeromexico announced financial results for the second quarter of 2014. The airline’s operating profit for the period was 202 million Mexican pesos ($15.540 million), a year-over-year decline of 73% from 747 million pesos in the second quarter of 2013.
Revenue in the second quarter increased year-over-year by 9%, up to 10.356 billion pesos from 9.499 billion pesos in the same period last year.

Denver Union Station Completes 12-Year Restoration Process

Denver’s historic Union Station reopened on Saturday after being closed in December 2012 for extensive renovations.  The station first began its refurbishment process in 2002.

American Airlines to Launch New Miami-Haiti Route

American Airlines announced it will begin new daily service between Miami, Florida, and Cap-Haïtien, the second largest city in Haiti, on October 2.  The service will operate using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Flights are scheduled to depart from Miami International Airport at 9:50 a.m. and arrive at Hugo Chavez International Airport in Cap-Haïtien at 11:50 a.m.  Flights from Cap-Haïtien will depart at 2:00 p.m. and arrive in Miami at 3:59 p.m.

Hilton Qingdao Golden Beach Hotel Opens in China

Hilton announced the opening of a new hotel in Qingdao, a port city located in China’s eastern Shandong Province.  The property, called the Hilton Qingdao Golden Beach, is situated on the shores of the Golden Beach in the city’s Huangdao district.
