WestJet Launches New Service to London’s Heathrow Airport from Calgary
WestJet launched new service from Calgary to London Sunday night.
The airline’s first flight to London Heathrow Airport arrived at noon local time there.
The carrier will operate the flights using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
WestJet’s Dreamliners seat 320 passengers in a three-class configuration. The airline offers a business-class cabin with fully lie-flat seats, as well as a premium-economy cabin with seats in a 2-3-2 configuration.
The carrier first announced plans for the new route in November 2021.
The new service is in addition to the airline’s existing flights to London’s Gatwick airport, which operate up to nine times per week between the two cities.
Calling Heathrow “one of the most connected global aviation hubs,” the Canadian low-cost carrier said it was “pleased to provide our guests travelling to London for business and leisure with greater choice and convenience” by offering flights to Heathrow as well as to Gatwick.
In addition to the new London Heathrow flights, WestJet is poised to launch new service from Calgary to both Rome and Dublin starting in May.
