United Airlines made multiple executive appointments and promotions on Monday in addition to announcing new global sourcing organizations within the company.

The Chicago-based carrier announced the promotion of Ankit Gupta, vice president of network planning and scheduling, to the position of senior vice president of domestic planning.  Mr. Gupta is also being promoted to the position of senior vice president of United Express, the airline’s regional operation.

Mr. Gupta, noted Andrew Nocella, the airline’s chief commercial officer, “helped us execute network strategies that would ordinarily take years to develop in a matter of months.”

An additional part of Mr. Gupta’s responsibilities will be taking on responsibility for operation and strategy of the United Express regional network.

The airline also announced the promotion of Patrick Quayle, vice president of international network planning and alliances, to the position of senior vice president for international network planning and alliances.

The two executives will continue to report to Mr. Nocella.

Finally, United also named Sarah Murphy, a senior vice president at United Express, to the position of senior vice president of global sourcing as well as chief procurement officer.  She will lead the airline’s new global sourcing organizations in this capacity and will report to Gerry Laderman, the carrier’s CFO.
