American Express, which first announced plans for a Centurion Lounge at London’s Heathrow Airport prior to the pandemic in December 2018, marked its opening on Tuesday.

The 7,000-square-foot (650-square-meter) Centurion Lounge in London is located in Terminal 3 after security.

Visitors to the lounge have access to a large dining area, bar, shower suites, restrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, a spa, and private phone rooms. The menu is focused on food and drink representative of the city of London.

The lounge “will transport guests on a journey to discover London through design,” the company said in a statement.

The new Heathrow lounge introduces a new offering in Centurion Lounges, the first-ever Centurion Lounge tea cart.  The tea cart will offer travelers a variety of hot and cold tea as well as immune booster drinks and mango-infused coconut water as well as a selection of pastries.

The bar will offer a selection of typical British cocktails by mixologist Jim Meehan as well as a wine menu with offerings from France, Italy, and Argentina.

Travelers will be offered a variety of presentations, starting with breakfast in the morning.  Israeli chef Assaf Granit will incorporate favorites from his restaurants in London, Paris, and Tel Aviv including homemade Kubalah bread; fried pita chips with tahini; shakshukit, a beef and lamb dish with confit tomatoes and tahini; and his “Oh My Baklava” olive oil cake with pistachio anglaise and rose water diplomat.

Admission to the new lounge is complimentary for holders of American Express Platinum and Centurion cards.
