The oneworld Alliance said Wednesday that it, along with its member airlines, is one of the 60 companies to be a signatory supporting the World Economic Forum Clean Skies for Tomorrow Coalition’s 10% sustainable aviation fuel by 2030 ambition statement.

The statement, also released Wednesday, achieved a milestone on the path to net-zero emissions by 2050 as the 60 companies work together to power global aviation with 10% SAF by 2030.

Oneworld is the first global airline alliance to have committed to net zero emissions by 2050.

“Sustainability is at the core of oneworld’s priorities and our backing of this important ambition statement today further underlines our commitment” said the alliance’s CEO, Rob Gurney, in a statement. He added that no airline can do it alone, thus underscoring the need for the ambition statement.

“We believe that our support of the coalition’s statement will create further momentum for the industry’s efforts in sustainability and hope it will galvanize others to take action.”
