Delta Air Lines will require new employees to get a coronavirus vaccine as a condition of employment

“Any person joining Delta in the future we will mandate to get vaccinated before they can sign up with the company,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian, in an interview with CNN on Friday.

At the present time, 60% of the Atlanta-based airline’s employees have had at least one inoculation.

Bastian said he would “strong encourage current employees at the airline to be inoculated. Employees who do not get vaccinated may face work restrictions, he said, that would include not being able to crew international flights.

The carrier currently reports that over 60% of its employees have received at least one inoculation.  Bastian said he expects that 80% of the airline’s workforce will soon be fully vaccinated.
