Delta Taps Longtime GE Exec as New CFO

Delta Air Lines announced the appointment Friday of a new chief financial officer, Dan Janki.

Mr. Janki, will who also service as the airline’s executive vice president, has served as CEO of GE’s power portfolio since last October.  He succeeds Paul Jacobson, who became General Motors’ CFO in December after 23 years at the airline.

In the interim period, two Delta executives, Gary Chase and Bill Carroll, served as co-CFOs.

The appointment is effective July 12, 2021.

Mr. Janki held various positions in finance and operations during his 29 years at GE including CFO of GE’s energy infrastructure business.

“Dan is known for his close working relationship with his teams and a strong customer focus,” said Delta’s CEO, Ed Bastian, in a memo to employees announcing the appointment. “He shares our spirit of innovation and collaboration, and our values of servant leadership, honesty, integrity and respect for all.”

The new CFO attended Ohio State University, where he studied finance and accounting.  He also attended a summer program at the University of London focusing on international finance.
