American Express said it plans to open a Centurion Lounge at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport next year and expand several existing Centurion Lounges.

The new location, the company’s 16th lounge, is the first to be announced for 2022 after the airport’s completion of Project Journey, a $1 billion capital improvement program.

The 14th Centurion Lounge opened at Denver International Airport last month, and the 13th Centurion Lounge opened at John F. Kennedy International Airport in October of last year.  The 15th will be the new Centurion Lounge at London Heathrow Airport, which is slated to open in the next few months.

The 11,500-square-foot (1,068-square-meters) DCA Centurion Lounge will be located airside in National Hall near Terminal B.

As with other Centurion Lounges that highlight the cities they are in, the DCA lounge will feature a décor inspired by Washington, D.C.’s rich history.  Visitors to the lounge will have access to a large dining area, bar, shower suites, restrooms, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

American Express also said that its Centurion Lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will relocate to a space that’s three times the size of the current lounge, namely 13,800 square feet (1,282 square meters), and that the lounge at San Francisco International Airport will double in size to over 16,000 square feet (1,486 square meters), making it the largest in the system.
