United Airlines to Offer Covid Test Pre-Clearance Program for Hawaii-Bound Travelers
United Airlines announced a pre-clearance program that allows passengers traveling to Hawaii to show proof of a negative test result at the departure airport. The new program allows passengers to bypass document screening upon arrival in Hawaii.
In order to participate in the program, travelers must enroll in Hawaii’s Safe Travels program, the state’s repository for health and travel information. Those traveling must complete the online Covid-19 questionnaire within 24-hours of departure and also upload a negative test result that must be taken within 72 hours of their flight.
The pre-clearance program is available at all of United’s hubs, which include Chicago O’Hare International, Denver International, Los Angeles International, and George Bush Intercontinental airports.
The pre-clearance program will be offered starting on February 1.
In addition to the pre-clearance program launch, United also said it would expand its mail-in testing to customers in any location in the United States.
