Starwood Capital Group announced the acquisition of the Skt. Petri Hotel in Copenhagen from Strawberry Forever.

The purchase price was not disclosed.  The property is Starwood’s first in Denmark.

The 288-key property is centrally located in the city. The structure that houses the hotel was home to the Daells Varehus department store, which opened in the 1930s, until its conversion to a hotel in the early 2000s.  As part of the transaction, Starwood acquired approximately 50,000 square feet (4,645 square meters) of retail space on the ground floor.

Danish architect Per Arnoldi’s stark white lobby, reached via an escalator, features high ceilings, a long black reception desk, a bar, a terrace, and an open brasserie, according to a review of the property by FBT Editorial Director Jonathan Spira written in 2014.

Starwood and Strawberry Fields plan to work together on future acquisitions in the Nordic region, the two parties said in a statement.
