New Rules to Allow Canadians to Avoid Quarantine when Traveling to Hawaii
Canadians who wish to travel to Hawaii will be allowed to bypass the self-quarantine period with the proviso that they show prof of a negative coronavirus test, under new rules announced Thursday.
Governor David Ige made the announcement saying that Canada represents the second-largest international market for the islands after Japan.
“Canada and Hawaii share a close bond, and we have been overwhelmed with the calls and emails from our Canadian friends asking when they can safely come back to Hawaii,” the governor said during a news conference Thursday.
Both Air Canada and Westjet worked with state officials to gain approval to offer pre-flight testing. The test must show a negative result within 72 hours of departure.
