Braniff Airways, the airline that flew from 1930 through 1982 and that continues as a branding and licensing company while administering former employee travel benefits, announced plans to partner on a Braniff-themed hotel with a real estate developer in the Dallas area.

The Braniff property will be at the site of its former Hostess College and construction is slated to begin in the spring.  The 75-key boutique property will have numerous nods to Braniff’s storied past and, once open, will be only the second airline-themed hotel in the United States, after the TWA Hotel in the Eero Saarinen’s TWA Flight Center at John F. Kennedy International Airport, which opened in the spring of 2019.

The former airline is working with Centurion American, the company that owns the hostess college and which was the developer of the reborn Statler Hilton earlier in the decade.

The hotel will feature a restaurant, swimming pool, and Braniff Boutique selling airline-branded gifts such as coasters, model planes, and t-shirts.

Braniff said it would retain control of its intellectual property throughout the project and also work with the developer on the restoration of both the interior and the exterior of the Hostess College.
