United Airlines said it plans to introduce eight new international routes and increase the number of flights to 19 destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Latin America.

The new routes, which will begin to operate in December, include non-stop service linking Los Angeles and San Jose, Costa Rica and San Pedro Sula, Honduras; Denver and Belize City, Belize, and San Jose; and Washington, D.C. and Santo Domingo; as well as the return of non-stop service between Cleveland and Cancun.

In January, the Chicago-based carrier will begin to offer non-stop service linking Liberia, Costa Rica with both Los Angeles and San Francisco.

“These eight new routes highlight the continued expansion of our network and build upon our strong presence in Latin America,” said Patrick Quayle, the airline’s vice president for its international network.

The new flights are subject to government approval.

In addition to the new flights, United will add additional flights to several destinations in Mexico including Cancun, San Jose del Cabo, and Puerto Vallarta, as well as weekend service to Cozumel from Chicago, Denver, and Houston.
