United Airlines said it has been named the official airline for the 2020 Presidential and Vice Presidential Debates by the Commission on Presidential Debates.

The commission is a non-profit corporation that was jointly established in 1987 by the Democratic and Republican parties.  It sponsors and produces debates for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates every four years and has run all such debates since 1988.

The first debate takes place on September 29 at the Samson Pavilion at Case Western Reserve University.

“At United, our mission is to connect people and unite the world –and one of the most important ways to do that is to engage in the democratic process,” said the airline’s president, Brett Hart.

In addition to flying 65 members of the commission’s staff to each of the four debates, the airline will also transport medical professionals from the Cleveland Clinic, which is serving providing a health security advisory service to the debates, to each of the debates.  United also works with the clinic for its health and safety protocols.
