Hilton Times Square to Close Permanently in October

Times Square, usually bustling with tourists

The owner of the Hilton Times Square, which has been closed to guests since March, said it would close permanently in October, according to a document filed with state regulators this week.

The move comes amidst the significant downtown in tourism in New York City amidst the pandemic.

The hotel is located in the heart of the theater district.

The owner, Sunstone Hotel Investors, said in the filing that it was a “permanent closing” and that it would cut 200 jobs as a result.

The 478-key property is located at 234 West 42nd Street and opened in 2000.
The owner, Sunstone Hotel Investors, had at press time not replied to a request for comment.
