American Airlines Revamps the Check-In Experience for the Coronavirus Age

American Airlines announced new contactless technology that enables travelers to check in and print luggage tags at a kiosk at the airport without having to touch a screen.

Flyers who are checking bags can check in ahead of flight time using the airline’s app and will be asked to indicate the number of checked bags.  Upon arrival at the airport, the traveler would proceed to a check-in kiosk, which will scan the boarding pass and automatically print the bag tags.  The new feature is available to those traveling domestically as well as internationally.

The airline said that the new service will be available at 230 airports immediately.

American also announced the launch of a new in-flight Wi-Fi portal, Passengers may access their AAdvantage frequent-flyer account and American Airlines credit card accounts without charge and may also purchase Wi-Fi for a flight. The portal also offers the airline’s inflight entertainment selections.
