While Broadway theaters continue to be shuttered during the pandemic, impresario Andrew Lloyd Weber will make some of his shows available on line starting Friday in a series dubbed “The Shows Must Go On.”

Sir Andrew plans to stream his 2000 revival of the 1991 show “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” on Friday at 2 p.m.  The show, starring Donny Osmond, Maria Friedman, Richard Attenborough, and Joan Collins, will be available for a 48-hour period at no charge.

The following week will see the 2012 rock musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” on the service.  It stars Tim Minchin, Melanie C of the Spice Girls, and Chris Moyles.

The composer plans to make other shows including “Cats,” “Evita,” and “Phantom of the Opera” available in the weeks ahead.   He said he won’t overlook some of his spectacular flops, including “By Jeeves,” a musical based on the series of novels and stories by P.G. Wodehouse about the character Bertie Wooster and his loyal valet, Jeeves. That show premiered in Her Majesty’s Theatre in 1975 and closed after one month. It underwent significant rewrites and premiered on Broadway in 2001.
