Alaska Airlines announced that the company’s board of directors had appointed Brooke Vatheuer to the position of vice president for strategic performance-Seattle, a new position.

Ms. Vatheuer previously held the position of senior vice president of operations and planning at Alaska Air Group’s Horizon Air subsidiary.  In the new position, she will be responsible for passenger experience as well as operational metrics, ground staffing, air space management, gate space areas, and employee engagement at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the airline’s hometown hub.

“She has an astute understanding of the airline business,” said Gary Beck, the airline’s COO, referring to Ms. Vatheuer, who started with the airline in 2007 as an internal auditor.

Ms. Vatheuer, who is a certified public accountant, joined Horizon Air in 2017 as vice president of finance.

Prior to joining Alaska, Ms. Vatheuer worked at Deloitte & Touché, starting as an intern. She attended college at the University of Washington, where she studied accounting, and subsequently earned a master’s degree in professional accounting there.
